Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada invited 3,500 candidates to apply for permanent residence on Oct. 1 in an Express Entry round limited to trades occupations. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score was 476.
The round, the 447th on the department’s published list, was held under the “Trades Occupations, 2026-Version 3” category, according to the rounds of invitations page on Canada.ca. Only candidates in the Express Entry pool with qualifying work experience in the listed trades were considered, and the invitations went to the highest-ranked among them.
It was the first round of October. The previous three rounds, according to the same IRCC data, were a Canadian Experience Class round on Sept. 29 that invited 2,000 candidates with a cut-off of 518, a Provincial Nominee Program round on Sept. 28 that invited 733 candidates with a cut-off of 725, and a senior managers round on Sept. 16 that invited 250 candidates with a cut-off of 389.
A candidate who receives an invitation to apply has 60 days to submit a complete permanent residence application, according to IRCC. The department publishes the category definitions, the eligible occupations and the language and work-experience requirements on its Express Entry pages.
Candidates who think they may qualify for a category-based round can check that their Express Entry profile is current and that the work experience listed matches the category definition. The official source for eligibility, fees and processing information is IRCC. Canada News Media does not provide legal or immigration advice.
