The B.C. Provincial Nominee Program issued invitations to apply on Oct. 8 in four Skills Immigration categories: construction trades, health care, child care and veterinary care. Minimum scores ranged from 76 to 99.
According to the province’s invitations to apply page, the Build: Construction Trades category invited 115 people with a minimum score of 94. The Care: Childcare category invited 86 people with a minimum score of 99 and is limited to early childhood educators.
The Care: Health category invited 82 people with a minimum score of 76 for priority health care occupations. The Care: Veterinary Care category invited fewer than five people with a minimum score of 86, for priority veterinary occupations that include animal health technologists and veterinary technicians with a valid professional designation.
The province said invitations are issued only to registrations received before the draw date. An invitation lets a person apply for nomination under the program. A nomination is not permanent residence, which is decided separately by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
The most recent entrepreneur round listed by the province was on Sept. 22, when the base stream invited 10 people with a minimum score of 119 and the regional stream invited fewer than five at the same score.
People who have registered under the program can check their registration status and the selection criteria for each category on the province’s site, and can find federal rules and fees on the IRCC website.
