Alberta invited 145 candidates to apply for provincial nomination in two Alberta Advantage Immigration Program draws in the first week of October, according to the province’s published draw results.
The first draw took place Oct. 2 under the Alberta Opportunity Stream. The province issued 123 invitations, and the lowest score among invited candidates was 54.
The second draw took place Oct. 7 under the Alberta Express Entry Stream, in the priority sector category for aviation. Alberta issued 22 invitations, and the lowest score among invited candidates was 56.
The Alberta Opportunity Stream is for people already working in Alberta. The Alberta Express Entry Stream is for candidates who have an active profile in the federal Express Entry pool. The province uses priority sector draws to target occupations in sectors it has identified as in demand.
Only candidates who received an invitation can submit an application under the stream. An invitation does not guarantee a nomination, and a nomination does not guarantee permanent residence, which is decided by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Candidates who think they may qualify should check their eligibility, draw history and processing information on the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program page and the IRCC website. Questions about an individual case are best put to IRCC or a licensed immigration consultant or lawyer.
