Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada invited 2,500 Canadian Experience Class candidates to apply for permanent residence in an Express Entry draw on Oct. 15, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 519.
The round was draw No. 449 of the year, according to the rounds of invitations page published by the department. It was open only to candidates in the Canadian Experience Class, which is for people with at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada.
The previous Canadian Experience Class round, on Sept. 29, invited 2,000 candidates with a cut-off of 518. This round was therefore 500 invitations larger, with a cut-off one point higher, based on the department’s published figures.
It followed a provincial nominee draw on Oct. 13 that invited 752 candidates with a cut-off of 772, and a trades draw on Oct. 1 that invited 3,500 candidates with a cut-off of 476.
An invitation to apply is not an approval. Candidates who receive one must submit a complete application for permanent residence within the deadline set out in their invitation, and IRCC then assesses the application. Candidates who were not invited stay in the pool as long as their profile remains valid, and their score can change if they update their language results, education or work history.
Anyone unsure about eligibility or how to improve a profile should check the official Express Entry pages on Canada.ca or speak with a licensed immigration consultant or lawyer. Canada News Media does not provide legal advice.
