Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada invited 5,000 Express Entry candidates with French-language proficiency to apply for permanent residence on Oct. 16, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 435.
The round was draw No. 450 of the year, according to the rounds of invitations page on Canada.ca. It was the third Express Entry draw in four days, after a provincial nominee draw on Oct. 13 and a Canadian Experience Class draw on Oct. 15 that invited 2,500 candidates with a cut-off of 519.
The French-language category is open to candidates in the Express Entry pool who meet the department’s French-language criteria, regardless of their other language results. The department sets the category requirements, and candidates should confirm them on the official Express Entry category page before relying on them.
An invitation to apply is not an approval. Candidates who receive one must submit a complete application for permanent residence within the deadline in their invitation, and IRCC then assesses it. Those who were not invited remain in the pool while their profile is valid, and updated French test results can change a score.
Candidates in Quebec should note that the province selects most of its own economic immigrants under separate rules. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program and other provincial streams also run their own draws on separate schedules.
Anyone unsure about eligibility should check the official Express Entry pages on Canada.ca or speak with a licensed immigration consultant or lawyer. Canada News Media does not provide legal advice.
