Kenya’s Leonard Langat won the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon for the second year in a row on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, finishing in two hours 6 minutes 51 seconds, according to Canadian Running Magazine.
Updated Oct. 18, 2026. Results are preliminary and based on early race reports.
Kenya’s Leah Jeruto won the women’s race in 2:21:19, a personal best and her first marathon victory, the magazine reported. The race is a World Athletics Label road event, and organizers list the full results on the official marathon site.
Langat was the only man to run under 2:07, which earned him a $5,000 time bonus, Canadian Running reported. He did not threaten his personal best of 2:05:26 or the course record of 2:05:00 set by Philemon Rono in 2019.
His repeat win made him the first back-to-back men’s champion in Toronto since Rono in 2017, the magazine said.
Fanny Kiprotich of Kenya was second in 2:07:21, followed by Noah Kipkemboi, also of Kenya, in 2:07:25. The top three men were separated by 34 seconds.
In the women’s race, Jeruto surged over the final 10 kilometres to pull clear of Nigsti Haftu of Ethiopia, who finished second in 2:21:34. Ayinadis Teshome of Ethiopia was third in 2:22:51, Canadian Running reported.
Teshome had said before the race that she wanted to break the women’s course record of 2:20:44, held by Waganesh Mekasha. That mark will stand for at least another year.
The race also doubled as the Canadian marathon championship. Andrew Davies was the top Canadian man, finishing ninth overall in 2:08:48. Canadian Running described the run as the fastest debut marathon by a Canadian.
Dayna Pidhoresky was the top Canadian woman in 2:26:02, a major personal best, the magazine reported. Pidhoresky is an Olympian who has won the national title in Toronto before.
The marathon and half marathon drew runners along the Lake Ontario waterfront and through downtown Toronto on a mostly flat course. Search interest in the race results rose across Canada on Sunday, according to Google Trends.
The Toronto race is one of the country’s biggest road events and regularly attracts elite fields from East Africa alongside Canadian national team runners chasing qualifying standards. Race organizers have not yet released additional details on prize money or attendance.
Canada News Media will update this story if official results change. The race results were first reported by Canadian Running Magazine.
