Prince Edward Island’s Office of Immigration issued 163 invitations to apply for provincial nomination in a Labour and Express Entry draw held Oct. 16, according to the province’s expression of interest draw page.
The draw followed one on Oct. 7 that issued 90 invitations in the same category. Together with a Sept. 17 round of 195 invitations, the province has invited 448 candidates across its three most recent draws. The province’s page does not list a minimum score for any of the three, and it shows no business or entrepreneur invitations in them.
The Oct. 7 round was an unscheduled draw aimed at priority sectors, according to reporting by LPEN. The province’s own page does not give a reason for the Oct. 16 round or say when the next draw will take place.
An invitation lets a candidate who is already in the province’s expression of interest pool submit a full application for a provincial nomination. A nomination is not permanent residence. Nominated candidates must still apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, which makes the final decision.
Candidates who think they may have been invited should check the account they used to register and read the instructions that came with the invitation, including any deadline. Anyone unsure about eligibility can contact the Office of Immigration at 902-620-3628 or [email protected]. Questions about a specific case are best put to a licensed immigration consultant or lawyer, and IRCC publishes program rules on its website.
The draw is one of several provincial rounds in recent weeks. Manitoba issued 340 invitations on Oct. 8, Alberta invited 145 candidates in two draws, British Columbia invited construction, health and child care workers, and Newfoundland and Labrador issued 131 invitations.
Full results are on the PEI Office of Immigration draw page.
