LOS ANGELES: Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jalen Williams was taken off the court on a stretcher late in Sunday’s 108-101 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, and the team had not announced a diagnosis, ESPN reported.
Williams hurt his lower left leg while being fouled on a drive with 1:14 left in the fourth quarter. He landed awkwardly, his leg gave way and his left foot turned out at an unnatural angle, ESPN reported. Medical staff attended to him, the game was paused for about five minutes, and he left the court on a stretcher.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault said the team did not yet have an update. “We’re not doing great,” he said. The team planned to provide an update Monday morning.
Teammate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said he felt for Williams. “I just feel bad for him,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “He’s not gone forever. He’ll be back better than ever, and we know it.”
Some outlets have speculated about the severity of the injury and how long Williams could be out. The Thunder have not confirmed the nature of the injury or a timeline, so those reports should be treated as unconfirmed until the team speaks.
Williams, a key part of the Thunder’s backcourt next to Gilgeous-Alexander, was already coming off an injury-interrupted 2025-26 season, when he suffered a left hamstring strain in the playoffs against the Phoenix Suns.
Oklahoma City has started the season strongly. Our earlier report on how Gilgeous-Alexander was held to 17 as the Thunder topped the Nuggets shows how much the team relies on its two guards.
The injury was among the most-searched sports stories in Canada on Sunday night, where Gilgeous-Alexander, from Hamilton, Ont., is a national star. We will update this story when the Thunder announce a diagnosis.
