
EDMONTON (660 NEWS) — Alberta saw a jump in new COVID-19 cases on Friday, recording the highest single-day total since early May.
The provinces found 77 new cases of the virus after it conducted 7,801 tests.
The Calgary zone made up 30 of those new cases while the Edmonton zone had 23.
There are currently 592 active cases province-wide, 50 are hospitalized with nine of those in the intensive care unit.

- Calgary zone: 228
- Edmonton zone: 203
- Central zone: 13
- South zone: 96
- North zone: 44
- Unknown: 8
Total deaths decreased by one after health officials confirmed one of the fatalities at the Misericordia Community Hospital was deemed to be unrelated to COVID-19. Deaths in the Alberta now sit at 160.
Five patients at that facility have died from complications related to the virus.
The number of Albertans who have recovered from COVID-19 has increased to 7,844.
Over 510,000 Albertans have been tested for the virus.
