While the userbase of Canada’s COVID Alert app continues to grow, the number of people reporting positive test results remains fairly low.
The Public Health Agency of Canada says nearly three million people (2.94-million) have already downloaded the app, which is currently available in four provinces.
However, only 514 notifications for positive tests have been issued—all of which were in Ontario.
Officials have been urging people to adopt the app as parts of the country are experiencing a second wave of the coronavirus. In the last 14 days, Ontario has reported over 4,600 new cases.
A public health spokesperson says they are working with other provinces to roll out the COVID Alert app countrywide.
