Toffoli, who is from Scarborough, Ont., and played junior hockey with the Ottawa 67’s, already has some familiarity with Montreal.
“I played my junior in Ottawa, so I’d go to Montreal every once in a while,” he said. “So, obviously, I know the city a little bit, being (there) in the summer. I know the restaurants are all incredible, the living’s great, and that’s kind of what I told my wife, too. She visited one time when I was with L.A. and she really enjoyed the atmosphere of the rink and, same thing, the restaurants and everything, too.”
Toffoli’s wife, Cat Belanger, works as an entertainment coordinator with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“I think it’s going to be exciting to be closer to my parents, see them a little bit more often,” Toffoli said about moving to Montreal. “Obviously, being in California and Vancouver they didn’t make very many trips. But I think it all comes down to the team and living in a beautiful city. I think it’s all going to be a great situation for myself and my family.”
