The best heated dog bed in Canada for most owners is the K&H Lectro-Soft outdoor heated bed, which Amazon.ca lists at $80.33 for the medium size with a 4.6-star rating. Large dogs need a bigger frame, such as the Veehoo elevated bed at $79.97, and small dogs can use the 20-watt K&H at $62.28. Check the electrical safety mark on any heated pet product, a point the CSA Group certification programs exist to cover, and read the maker’s own page at K&H Pet Products.

Our heated dog bed picks
No. 1, best for a sheltered garage, porch or mudroom: K&H Lectro-Soft Outdoor Heated Dog and Cat Bed, medium.

Best for a medium dog that sleeps in a garage, barn or porch. The listing describes an orthopedic foam base with a washable fleece cover, a thermostat that warms the surface to the pet’s normal body temperature, a 5.5-foot steel-wrapped cord and 40 watts of power. K&H says the product is safety certified, and Amazon.ca sells and ships it directly. It is a pad-style bed rather than a full frame, so it needs a dry, sheltered spot. Price on Amazon.ca on Nov. 6, 2026: $80.33, rated 4.6 stars from 1,842 ratings, sold by Amazon.ca.

No. 2, best for small dogs, puppies and a doghouse: K&H Lectro-Soft Heated Outdoor Bed, small.

Best for a small dog or a doghouse floor. The listing gives 14 by 18 inches and 20 watts, an internal thermostat that heats to a soothing 102 degrees Fahrenheit, a fleece cover, a one-year limited warranty and use in a garage, barn, porch, balcony or doghouse, or indoors. It has the largest review count of any pick, at 7,009 ratings, and Amazon.ca sells it itself. At 14 by 18 inches it will not suit a dog much bigger than a terrier. Price on Amazon.ca on Nov. 6, 2026: $62.28, rated 4.6 stars from 7,009 ratings, sold by Amazon.ca.

No. 3, best for large dogs that need a full frame bed: Veehoo Elevated Dog Bed with Heating Pad, large.

Best for a large dog that wants a raised cot with a warm mat. The listing measures it at 120 by 81 by 21 centimetres with a 10-centimetre guardrail, for dogs up to 111 centimetres long. It has a steel frame with anti-slip rubber feet, a breathable mesh surface, a detachable machine-washable mat cover and a chew-resistant cord. Raising the bed lifts the dog off a cold floor, and the listing says it can be used without the heating mat for cooling in summer. The size is the catch: measure your space first, because this is a big frame. Price on Amazon.ca on Nov. 6, 2026: $79.97, rated 4.4 stars from 2,357 ratings, sold by Veehoo (brand).

No. 4, best for putting under your dog’s existing bed or crate: NICREW Adjustable Temperature Dog Heating Pad, 27.5 x 15.7 in, 75 W.

Best for adding heat to a bed or crate you already own. The listing gives six heat levels, a dual temperature sensor, an auto shut-off timer of 4, 8, 12 or 24 hours, a removable fleece cover, MET safety listing and a 7-foot steel-wrapped cord. It is a pad, not a bed, so your dog still needs something to lie on. At 4.2 stars it has the lowest rating of the five, but it has more than 3,800 ratings and costs the least of the electric options. Price on Amazon.ca on Nov. 6, 2026: $51.99, rated 4.2 stars from 3,878 ratings, sold by NICREW (brand).

No. 5, best for a larger dog in a shed, porch or outdoor shelter: NICREW Outdoor Dog Heating Pad, 35.4 x 23.6 in, 80 W.

Best for a bigger dog in an unheated outbuilding. The listing gives 35.4 by 23.6 inches and 80 watts, a water-resistant, abrasion-resistant base, a 5.6-foot steel-wrapped cord, a removable machine-washable cover and use indoors or out. The listing text refers to a cat bed in places and uses the name Petace in its bullets, so read the page carefully before you buy. NICREW sells it directly. Price on Amazon.ca on Nov. 6, 2026: $59.99, rated 4.4 stars from 942 ratings, sold by NICREW (brand).

How we chose
We searched Amazon.ca for “heated dog bed” and “K&H heated dog bed” on Nov. 6, 2026 and opened every listing we considered the same day. We kept dog-suitable products rated 4.2 stars or higher with at least 900 ratings. We only picked listings sold by Amazon.ca or by the brand itself, and dropped otherwise strong listings sold by third parties such as TaikPet, JM brand and FluffyCare Pet, plus the 3.9-star K&H Thermo-Pet Lounge. We also left out cat-only beds. Specifications come from the listings. We did not test any product, and we did not rely on individual owner reviews for this guide.
Is a heated dog bed safe?
A heated bed that is built for pets uses a low-wattage heater and a thermostat, and the better listings add a chew-resistant cord. Still, an electric product near a dog carries risks. Look for a safety certification mark from a recognized lab on the product, such as the MET safety listing that the NICREW page describes, and unplug the bed if the cord is frayed or the cover is torn. Keep outdoor pads dry and plugged into a protected outlet. If your dog chews cords, an elevated bed with an enclosed cord or a self-warming blanket without a plug may suit you better. Ask your veterinarian before using any heat source on a senior dog, a puppy or a dog with a medical condition. We make no health claims for any product.
Heated pad or heated bed?
A heating pad goes under or inside a bed you already have. It costs less, such as the $51.99 NICREW pad, and it lets you keep a bed your dog already loves. A heated bed folds the warmth and the sleeping surface into one product, like the K&H Lectro-Soft or the Veehoo cot. If your dog sleeps in a crate, a pad is usually simpler.
When is the best time to buy in Canada?
Black Friday falls on Nov. 27 this year, and Boxing Day and Prime Big Deal Days are the other big Canadian sales periods. Pet products are often discounted in those windows, but we cannot say that any listed pick will be cheaper, and the prices above are the ones we saw on Nov. 6, 2026. If you need a bed before the first deep freeze, buy now and compare the price again on the product page.
Who it’s for, and who should skip it
A heated bed suits dogs that sleep in a cold garage, mudroom, porch or doghouse, and owners who want the heat only when the dog lies down. It is a poor choice for a dog that chews cords or for a spot that gets wet. If your dog is large and sleeps on the couch, a warm blanket may be a better buy than a pad.
Frequently asked questions
Do heated dog beds use a lot of electricity?
The products here are rated at 20 to 80 watts on their listings. The K&H listings describe a thermostat that warms the bed to the pet’s normal body temperature, which is designed to keep power use low.
Can I use a heated dog bed outdoors in a Canadian winter?
Some are made for sheltered outdoor spots such as a garage, porch, barn or doghouse. Check that the listing says outdoor use, keep the pad out of standing water and use a protected outlet. None of these listings promise performance at a specific outdoor temperature, so check the product page.
What size heated dog bed should I get?
Measure your dog lying down and add a few centimetres. The K&H small size is 14 by 18 inches, the medium is 24 by 19 inches, and the Veehoo frame is 120 by 81 centimetres, built for dogs up to 111 centimetres long.
Are heated pet beds safe to leave on all night?
Most listings describe thermostats, and the NICREW pad has an auto shut-off timer of 4, 8, 12 or 24 hours. Follow the maker’s instructions and ask your vet if your dog is a senior, a puppy or has a health condition.
Can I wash a heated dog bed?
The covers on these picks are described as removable and machine washable. Unplug the bed and follow the maker’s instructions for the heating element.
