Health Canada and Bose Corporation have recalled 35,399 lithium-ion battery packs sold in Canada for the Bose S1 Pro and S1 Pro+ portable Bluetooth speaker systems, warning that the packs pose potential fire and burn hazards.
The packs are affected if the serial number begins with 083723, 078352, 084105, 078591, 078592, 084106 or 086409, according to the Government of Canada recall notice (RA-82795), published Nov. 5. The serial number is printed on a label on the battery pack.
S1 Pro packs were sold from April 2020 to May 2024, and S1 Pro+ packs from June 2025 to July 2026. The notice does not say which retailers sold them. About 634,759 packs were sold in the United States, where the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is part of the joint recall.
The notice said continued use of the packs as they age can expose the lithium-ion cells to potentially damaging operating conditions. As of Oct. 5, Bose had received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. Worldwide, the company has received seven incident reports and no reports of injuries.
Health Canada is telling owners to stop using the affected packs immediately and contact Bose to arrange a replacement battery pack. Bose can be reached at 1-800-869-2114, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET Saturday, or through its battery recall page.
The packs were made in China by TWS Technology (Guangzhou) Ltd. and imported by Bose Corporation of Framingham, Mass. Under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, it is illegal to sell, redistribute or give away a recalled product in Canada. Consumers can report incidents to Health Canada through its consumer product incident report form.
The notice was one of several fire-hazard recalls announced by Health Canada this week, which also included the Baby Brezza SuperFast Sterilizer Dryer and Newdery power banks sold on Amazon.ca, as reported by CTV News.
