The brightly coloured, spongy pool accessories will be stuffed in all 18 holes of the two courses that are reopening, Thames Valley and Fanshawe.
Each cup “will be filled with a ‘pool noodle’ so the golf ball remains at the top of the cup,” the city’s website explains.
The foam tubes might even affect your score. “It should be easier to get a hole-in-one than ever,” joked Mayor Ed Holder at a Friday media briefing.
Other COVID-19 precautions at city courses include:
- Players must not touch flags.
- Only one person per golf cart (unless from the same household).
- Locker rooms will remain closed.
The third city golf course, River Road, is not reopening now, the city said.
Don’t even think of bending physical-distancing rules while playing, a city release warned: “A marshal will be present at each golf course to ensure all practices and procedures are being followed and to answer any questions.”
