It’s that rare special day in Destiny 2, the debut of a new raid, Vow of the Disciple, and a World’s First race to see who can complete it the fastest. And naturally, we have a few stipulations and a host of disabled gear that we can’t use, lest it taint the race in various ways.
First, the time. The raid race kicks off at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET today, Saturday, March 5. Yes, this is an hour after reset which is unusual. I normally wouldn’t even do a “raid time” post but I know some people may be logging on at noon ET and being confused about where it is.
The 24 hour window will then run until 10 AM PT the next day, Sunday. If you beat it during that time, you’ll get the special emblem. Any time in the first week, you’ll qualify for the new raid jacket. A “completion” counts when you’ve cleared the raid, looted the final chest and returned to orbit with your fireteam.
The minimum power level is 1530, which this time does include artifact power, which should open things up to even more people attempting day one this time. Players are capped at 20 under power for each encounter for the first 24 hours of the race.
Finally, there’s a list of disabled weapons and exotics that you cannot use in the raid, with a reason attached to all of them:
Destiny 2
Bungie
IKELOS SMG – This accidentally got a 40% damage buff to red bars because it’s coded like Osteo Striga.
Imperial Needle Bow – This accidentally got a 40% damage buff to red bars because it’s coded like Ticuu’s.
Grand Overture Machine Gun/Wardcliff Coil Rocket Launcher – Heavy ammo swapping for too much Wardcliff ammo.
Wormgod Caress/Peregrine Greaves Titan Exotics – These have been used in concert with One Two Punch and Void 3.0 for just insane damage stacking builds that would break encounters.
Suppressing Glaive Artifact Mod – I don’t actually know if this has some sort of bug attached to it but maybe Bungie just didn’t want all enemies permanently blinded in encounters or Hunters being able to go invisible 100% of the time.
Enhanced One-Two Punch – This perk is now functioning like the normal version because of those damage stacking builds.
Enhanced Pulse Monitor – I don’t actually know what this did, but it’s been demoted to normal Pulse Monitor.
I don’t know if anything else will be disabled at the last minute this morning, but it’s possible. I’ll add anything that comes up. I’m a little surprised Volatile Flow survived all this.
Alright, so with all that, you should be good to go. I have my team ready, and by my team I mean beer and my friend who I am going to watch streams with. I will be live-tweeting the race and covering once World’s First has been completed. See you out there.
