The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, says the first presumptive case of COVID-19 in the province is in the Labrador-Grenfell Health region.
Labrador Grenfell covers Labrador and the Northern Peninsula. Dr. Fitzgerald would not confirm the exact location of the woman.
The investigation into the one presumptive case is ongoing in terms of contact tracing.
Dr. Fitzgerald says the woman with the presumptive case had returned from a Caribbean cruise and has been in isolation since testing was completed.
As of last night 125 people are in isolation and as of this morning 161 people have been tested; 105 of those tests came back negative.
Dr. Fitzgerald indicates there will be updates as warranted.
