Fortnite Chapter 5 is not exactly keeping a whole lot under wraps at this point. We had a leaked battle pass yesterday and a new leak today of a launch trailer revealing a whole lot about what’s coming after OG mode ends. And we also learned OG Fortnite will return at some point in 2024.
What did we learn from the latest batch of leaks? A whole lot of new information including more branded crossovers to come, and huge amount of new gear and mechanics. This is courtesy of HypeX, one of the biggest Fortnite leak hunters.
- There are strong hints, if not outright reveals, that the Ninja Turtles will make their way into Fortnite this season, joining the crossovers we already know of Peter Griffin and Solid Snake in the battle pass.
- A non-character partnership will be with Lamborghini, as certain cars from the manufacturer will be in the game. Not clear on who Lamborghini is targeting with this crossover, but start ‘em young, I guess.
- There will be weapon mods and attachments for guns for the first time in Fortnite, echoing Warzone and Apex Legends, though the full extent of the options is unclear for now.
- There will be a train vehicle going around the map, and armored cars as a new vehicle.
- There is a new grappler and a new riot shield you can hold and shoot from behind.
- For mechanics, you will be able to drink shields while moving now, and they have also introduced the ability to clamber up walls, climbing them to a certain extent to reach ledges. In general they really, really seem to be leaning into many more movement and traversal options in Fortnite these days.
I believe that’s most of the major stuff for now, and it seems like a fairly traditional amount of additions to the game, based on what we normally see in a given season. The storyline has something to do with a captured Peely and Jonesy and others forming some sort of A-team to get him back. As we knew already, the season is called Chapter 5: Season 1 – Underground.
