Google has issued a warning for Chrome users – Times of India

Published

on

Internet search giant Google has issued a security warning for its Chrome web browser users. The company has issued a Chrome update telling its users that it includes a security fix.

The new update of the browser— version 81.0.4044.113 — has been rolled out for Windows, Mac and Linux.

The new update comes only with security fixes and rewards and as part of a note, however, the company is not sharing any details about that as of now. In a small note, Google explains, “Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed.”

The new update is said to be rolling out in the coming days or weeks, said Google in a blog post. Chrome users can check their version by clicking the three vertical dots in the top right corner of the browser then navigating to Help > About.

To recall, Google rolled out the Chrome 81 version earlier this month and brought with the ‘Tab Groups’ feature. As the name suggests, the feature allows users to club together with the tabs. For this, they need to right-click or double-tap on any tab > select ‘add to new group ‘ > drag tabs into that group.

It also gives its users the option to customise the group in terms of the header (a coloured dot), group name, etc. It also allows users to merge two groups or ungroup tabs as per convenience.

This month Google also temporarily rolled back SameSite cookie changes in Chrome due to coronavirus disease (Covid-19). To recall, with version 80 that was rolled out in February, Chrome began enforcing secure-by-default handling of third-party cookies to increase privacy. The rollout, which has been gradual, has been under close monitoring including proactively reaching out to individual websites and services to ensure their cookies are labelled correctly.

“…In light of the extraordinary global circumstances due to Covid-19, we are temporarily rolling back the enforcement of SameSite cookie labelling, starting today,” said Google in Chromium blog post.

BEIJING (Reuters) – Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker BYD Co Ltd (002594.SZ), (1211.HK) will supply EV batteries to U.S. automaker Ford Motor Co (F.N), a document on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed on Monday.

Ford’s China venture with Changan Automobile (000625.SZ) is seeking government approval to build a plug-in hybrid model equipped with BYD’s batteries, according to the document.

This marks BYD’s first-known battery supply deal with a major global automaker.

Shenzhen-based BYD, which is backed by U.S. investor Warren Buffett, said it would supply EV components including batteries and power management devices.

The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker said last year it planned to launch more than 30 new or significantly redesigned models in China by the end of 2021, of which over a third will be electric vehicles.

Ford and BYD did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Xiaomi to debut a new Mi Notebook model in India on June 11 – GSMArena.com news – GSMArena.com

Published

on

Xiaomi India today announced that it will be launching a brand new model of the Mi Notebook in India on June 11. The announcement will take place at 12PM IST.

The unannounced Mi Notebook model is said to be launching first in India. It is also said to be designed for the Indian market and will be sold exclusively in India.

The company website talks about a thin and light design, FHD display and nondescript claims about performance, storage and battery life. No exact specifications have been revealed so far and even the design is currently under wraps.

The new Mi Notebook model will be the first time Xiaomi has launched a notebook in the Indian market. It’s a new direction for the Chinese manufacturer, who has previously been cautious about launching higher priced products in the Indian market. However, along with the recent launch of the Mi 10, the company seems to be testing waters with releasing premium products in the Indian market. How this price and brand conscious market reacts remains to be seen but as tech enthusiasts we appreciate having more and easier access to new and different products.
