VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — An employee with ICBC is no longer working with the Crown Corporation after it became aware of racist social media posts.
Earlier in the day, ICBC said it was looking into reports a possible employee made “deeply offensive” and racist posts on Facebook.
“We have learned that the posts were in fact made by an employee, and that person is no longer an employee at ICBC,” reads an email from the company. “We do not tolerate any behaviour of this kind.”
The author of the posts promotes white power and makes comments denigrating Black Lives Matter.
“Black lives DO NOT MATTER. They do not belong in white countries,” a portion of one post from the former employee reads.
ICBC says it was made aware of the posts and that, as an employer that values diversity and inclusion, it finds the comments deeply offensive.
“We sincerely regret the harm that these posts have caused,” ICBC writes.
