The four worst are all within November when the number of new cases spiked across B.C.
The BC CDC lists 90 cases as active within Island Health. However, it’s data on new cases contradicts both Dr. Henry and the joint statement from the province.
Dr. Henry announced 2,146 new cases throughout the province since Friday.
The province reached a record number of active cases at 10,039 and record number of hospitalizations with 359.
There’s currently 87 people receiving intensive care.
A further 49 people passed away due to COVID-19. Nearly 650 people have died from the virus in B.C.
None of the fatalities were in Island Health.
They were predominantly in the Vancouver Coastal and Fraser health authorities, which are hit the hardest by the pandemic.
Both health authorities were the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, Dr. Henry confirmed.
The vaccine is expected to be made available in all health authorities next week.
