Males arrested in downtown break-ins
Two males have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into burglaries at downtown residential buildings.
On April 8, approximately 3:30 a.m., a male and female attended a building on Yarmouth Street where the female was caught on video using tools to pry open the front door. Both went to the parking garage where they were observed trying car door handles and the female was seen carrying several boxes before both left the building.
Both were identified from the security video. Approximately 11:30 p.m. Monday, the male was located downtown and arrested. He is charged with break and enter, possessing break-in instruments and breaching probation. He will appear in a Guelph court June 10, 2022.
Earlier on April 8, approximately 2:10 a.m., the same female had attended a building on Macdonell Street with a second female and a male. Again she used tools to pry open the front door and allow all three entry to the building. The females attended the laundry room but were unable to get inside.
Again the parties were identified via security video. Just before noon Tuesday the male was located downtown and arrested. A 51-year-old Guelph male is charged with break and enter. He will appear in a Guelph court May 24, 2022.
Police are still seeking the two involved females, who are believed to be responsible for several break-ins downtown.
