Police seek witnesses to assault
The Guelph Police Service is seeking witnesses to an assault Saturday night which left a male in a Hamilton trauma centre with serious injuries.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, the victim was outside an address on Home Street with a second male when they were approached by six to eight young persons between the ages of 16 and 20.
The victim was attacked and sustained serious head injuries. A black Mazda motor vehicle was also damaged during the altercation.
Police are asking residents in the area of Home Street, North Street and Yorkshire Street North to review home security cameras and contact police if they have information which might assist in the investigation.

Police investigating hit and run collision
The Guelph Police Service is investigating a hit and run collision which occurred downtown Tuesday evening.
The collision occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. at Norfolk Street and Paisley Street. A light-coloured four-door sedan was northbound on Norfolk Street when it crossed through the intersection and collided with a southbound vehicle waiting to make a left turn. The subject vehicle then left the area.

Police aware of social media video
The Guelph Police Service is aware of a video circulating on social media in which a Guelph male can be heard making threatening comments and using profanity and racial slurs towards a third party who was not physically present.
The video was recorded during an interaction between two people in downtown Guelph Sunday morning. A 28-year-old Guelph male was arrested and has been charged with a number of offences in relation to this incident including robbery and weapons offences. He remains in custody and will appear in a Guelph bail court Wednesday.
All complaints of this nature are reviewed by the Guelph Police Service’s hate crimes coordinator.

Male arrested for impaired, stunt driving
A Guelph male faces impaired and stunt driving charges following a traffic stop Tuesday night.
Approximately 10 p.m., Guelph Police Service officers on patrol spotted an SUV speeding in the area of Edinburgh Road South and College Avenue West. The SUV was clocked at 91 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
Officers caught up to the SUV after the driver pulled into a commercial plaza and exited the vehicle to go inside a business. Officers detected an odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath and he seemed confused. He was arrested and taken to the police station where tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 33-year-old Guelph male is charged with impaired operation and stunt driving. His driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days. He will appear in a Guelph court January 4, 2022.
