Male immediately breaches bail, arrested again
A Guelph male who breached a bail condition within a couple of hours of being released Wednesday was arrested again.
The male was released on bail on several charges, including breaching court orders and possessing a controlled substance. One of the conditions was not to be within 100 metres of a residence in the city’s west end.
Approximately 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Guelph Police Service officers were dispatched to notify the occupants of that address of the male’s conditions. As they arrived they observed the male approaching the front door of the home.
A 41-year-old Guelph male was arrested and further charged with failing to comply with a bail order and breach of probation. He was held for another bail hearing Thursday.
Teeth knocked out in assault
A Guelph male faces assault charges after another male had two teeth knocked out Wednesday afternoon.
Approximately 5:45 p.m., Guelph Police Service officers were called to a disturbance in the area of Janefield Avenue and Scottdale Drive. The victim arrived at an address to pick a female up for dinner when another male approached his vehicle armed with a screwdriver and attempted to break the window.
Eventually the suspect was able to open the door and punch the victim several times in the face. The victim did not seek medical attention.
The suspect fled on foot but was located a short distance away and arrested. A 38-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon. He will appear in a Guelph court March 15, 2022.
Male taken off road for stunt driving
A Guelph male was taken off the road for a month after he was caught driving nearly twice the speed limit Wednesday.
Just before 4:30 p.m., a member of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit was patrolling on Wellington Street West near Imperial Road South. The officer observed a speeding Toyota SUV and caught it on radar travelling 110 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.
A 59-year-old Guelph male is charged with speeding and stunt driving. His licence was suspended for 30 days and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Search uncovers stolen boat
A Guelph male faces charges after a stolen boat was discovered Wednesday at a south-end home.
Just before 1 p.m., members of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft Unit attended an address in the area of Edinburgh Road South and Ironwood Road as part of a stolen vehicle investigation.
Officers discovered an aluminum fishing boat which had all of its identification and serial numbers removed. The boat’s trailer also had all its identifying marks removed.
A 32-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000. He will appear in a Guelph court March 22, 2022.
