Couple arrested for break-and-enter
A 30-year-old male and a 26-year-old female from Guelph were arrested Thursday on multiple charges after their involvement in various incidents around the city.
On Saturday, June 29, in the early morning, the couple was observed on video surveillance entering a secure building on Waterloo Avenue. While in the building the couple attempted to enter a locked storage room by damaging the door’s lock but were unable to gain access to the room.
On Thursday, July 4, the same male was observed entering a business on Woodlawn Road, where he took power tools, valued at $369, and exited the store making no attempts to pay for the tools. The male was arrested as he exited the business by members of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft Unit. The male was charged with Break, and enter a place, Disguise with intent, Theft under $5,000, and Assault(from a previously reported incident). The male was later released with a court date of August 16.
The female was located shortly after and placed under arrest for Break, enter a place, and Disguise with intent. The female was released with a court date of August 16.
$2800 in perfume stolen
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after approximately $2800 in perfume was stolen from a south-end business.
On Wednesday, July 3 at approximately 6:30 p.m. 2 males entered the business on Clair Road, with one male speaking to store employees, distracting them, while the second male filled a bag with 13 bottles of fragrances. The two males exited the business, making no attempts to pay for the items.
Video surveillance provided the following descriptions of the males. Male 1, 6’2”, 150lbs, thin build, late teen-20s, wearing a black hat, black glasses, a brown tracksuit, a sweater that says “essentials”, a side bag – black strap beige/black. Male 2, 5’5” 120lbs, thin build, late teen-20s, having short dreadlocks, wearing a purple hat, black tracksuit, and a black side bag.

Males arrested after altercation
On Thursday afternoon police were called to a restaurant in the area of Gordon Street and Wellington Road, in relation to an altercation that was taking place between two males.
A 42-year-old Guelph man and a 28-year-old Cambridge man engaged in a verbal argument, that resulted in the men getting into a physical altercation while inside the restaurant.
Upon police arrival it was found that both male parties were currently on probation orders, resulting in them being placed under arrest for failure to keep the peace. Upon further police investigation, the 42-year-old male was arrested for Assault and 2 counts of Breach Probation. The 28-year-old male was arrested for Assault and Breach Probation.
The 42-year-old male was brought to the Guelph Police Station and held for a bail hearing, while the 28-year-old male was released with a court date of August 16.
