Sketchy leak claims Pixel Fold and Pixel Watch will launch alongside Pixel 6 – MobileSyrup

Published

 on

First off, while the leak below likely isn’t accurate, it’s still a notable rumour currently circulating around Twitter. With this in mind, I think it’s important MobileSyrup still covers it.

Rumours first shared by AI (@AppleLE257) on Twitter indicate that Google’s fall Pixel 6 series event will also include the reveal of the often-rumoured Pixel Watch, Pixel Fold, and several new Nest smart speakers.

It’s important to note that AI has a tiny Twitter following and not much of a track record for posting accurate leaks.

While it’s well known Google will reveal the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro at its upcoming event, no other rumours have hinted that we’ll catch a glimpse of other devices.

Over the past few months, we’ve seen reports surrounding a folding Pixel smartphone, but it seems unlikely that we’ll see that handset at this October’s event since Google will want the media’s attention solely on the Pixel 6 series.

Jon Prosser previously leaked details regarding a Pixel Watch back in April. However, there haven’t been many recent leaks about the smartwatch, leading me to believe that it’s unlikely it will appear at Google’s October event.

Google’s Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will be officially revealed on October 19th at 1pm ET/10am PT during an upcoming streamed event.

Google's Pixel is now the official fan phone of the NBA – MobileSyrup

Published

 on

Ahead of Google’s Pixel Fall Launch Event, the Pixel has been declared the NBA’s official fan phone thanks to Google’s new multi-year agreement with the league.

In addition, Google is now the Official Search Engine, Search Trends, and Fan Insights partner for each league, including the NBA, NBA G League and the NBA 2K League. The Pixel lineup will be the NBA Playoffs’ first-ever presenting partner, joining YouTube TV (also owned by Google but not available in Canada) in the postseason.

“Through this multi-year partnership, we’ll work with the NBA to create exciting immersive experiences for fans using our 3D and AR technology, as well as leverage new features that will be announced at our Pixel Fall Launch event,” reads Google’s blog post.

Google will also incorporate Search Trends throughout the season, displaying how fans search for information regarding games before, during, and after games using real-time data.

More information about the immersive experiences will be revealed by Google at the Pixel 6 launch event tomorrow. The company intends to unveil new Pixel camera features during a special Opening NBA Night on TNT Tip-Off pregame show following the launch event.

German fintech N26 valued at more than $9 billion after fundraising

Published

 on

The German online bank N26 said on Monday that it had completed a $900 million fundraising round that valued the company at more than $9 billion.

It is good news for the bank, which in recent months has come under fire for breaches related to money laundering controls and prevention.

The latest financing makes N26, founded in 2013, one of  Europe‘s most valuable fintechs, behind giants Klarna and Revolut but ahead of other neobanks such as Britain’s Starling and Monzo. N26 is Germany’s most valuable fintech..

The latest funding came from Third Point Ventures, Coatue Management, Dragoneer Investment Group and existing N26 investors, N26 said.

N26’s smartphone banking app offers a scalable, low-cost model that has already attracted backing from, among others, insurer Allianz, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC, Chinese internet giant Tencent, venture capital firm Earlybird and Silicon Valley investor Peter Thiel.

N26 said it has more than 7 million customers in 25 countries.

The bank said it would use the additional funding to expand its mobile offering and hire 1,000 new employees in the coming years.
