A snowmobiler was fighting for his life early Monday after his vehicle collided with a parked van Sunday night in Shawinigan, in the Mauricie region.
The Sûreté du Québec was informed of the incident, which took place on 47th St., at 10:15 p.m.
Provincial police said the snowmobiler was not wearing a helmet and was hurled from his vehicle on impact. The snowmobiler suffered critical injuries.
Police suspect excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash. An accident reconstruction specialist will try to determine the circumstances behind the collision.
