Reopening Ontario would be good for our health
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Premier Doug Ford has been playing it “safe” by closing almost everything, then by reopening microscopic bit by microscopic bit. The “safe” default position is to keep things closed. But how is it safe to isolate seniors from their loved ones for months? How is it safe to deprive the kids of education, physical activities and their friends? How is it safe to delay cancer treatment?
How is it safe to close businesses long enough for them to never reopen? How is it safe to throw millions of people out of work and create new poverty in the process? How is it good for your physical and mental health when you don’t know how you are going to pay the rent or the mortgage?
And by the way, the kids, who are not getting an adequate education, are the ones who will have to pay the zillions of dollars of debt governments are racking up, even though statistics show the young are way less at risk than adults.
Reopen Ontario. Now. Please.
