However, Broughton said he has corresponded with other owners, including the corporate owner of the Bull’s Eye Pizza name.
He said that while all franchises may not share his views specifically, all of them believe that “equality is needed.”
“There were some concerns about my wording,” Broughton said. “But the symbol — everybody is on board.”
As for the suggestion that being so ardent about BLM may alienate some pizza-seekers, Broughton said his outspokenness has actually increased his orders.
“After that Facebook post, I was inundated. I had to give two-hour wait times. No one batted an eye. The support has actually been overwhelming,” Broughton said.
Being upfront about contentious topics isn’t new to Broughton: Bull’s Eye Pizza South also has a very pro-vegan sticker on its window.
“Vegan AF,” Broughton said with a laugh. “I’m vegan myself. Our menu is about 50/50 vegan and regular. I’m sure I’ve lost customers because of that.”
