Perfume stolen in break and enter
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a large amount of expensive fragrances were stolen from a local business early Friday morning.
Just after 4 a.m., police received an alarm call from a business in the area of Gordon Street and Clair Road East. Officers were on scene within minutes and noted two glass doors at the front of the business were shattered. The building was cleared with the assistance of a canine unit but the suspect or suspects were no longer on scene.
A large quantity of Dior and Chanel perfumes and colognes were stolen. No estimated value was immediately available.

Impaired arrest following collision
A Guelph male faces impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle collision Thursday afternoon.
Police were called just after 5 p.m. to Nicklin Road near Woodlawn Road West. A witness reported a vehicle had struck a pole and ended up in a ditch, and that the driver had got out and started hitting the vehicle with a crowbar.
Officers located the heavily-damaged vehicle and observed a male leaning on it. He had a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath and was displaying signs of impairment including slurred speech and red watery eyes.
The male was arrested and transported to the police station, where breath tests indicated he had more than four times the legal limit of alcohol in his breath.
A 40-year-old Guelph male is charged with impaired operation. His driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in a Guelph court January 25, 2022.
Assault charge after punches, spitting
A Guelph male faces assault charges after his roommate was punched and repeatedly had his face spit on.
Guelph Police Service officers were called approximately 11:30 a.m. to a residence in the area of Clair Road West and Gosling Gardens. Investigation revealed two male roommates were arguing when one was punched in the face and throat. The suspect then spit in his face.
The victim retreated to his room to call police, but the suspect followed him, knocked him to the ground and continued to spit in his face. The victim sustained a minor facial injury.
A 38-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
