The Mayor’s Black and White Ball for the Arts will be back with a new name this year.

“In consideration with what we’ve been through the last two years, we decided to change it up this year, and we’ve called it the Mayor’s Black and White Arts Soirée,” said PG Arts Council Executive Director Eli Klasner.”

“It’s going to be a very interactive event with lots of live art, live music, live painting, live drama, but set in a beautiful and gorgeous décor.”

The event is being done to raise funds for three art groups in Prince George.

The Community Arts Council, Theatre Northwest, and the Prince George Symphony Orchestra will each receive an equal amount of the funds raised with some going towards a Prince George Community Arts Micro Grant.

“Once the event is done and we’ve seen how much we’ve made, we allocate an amount,” Klasner said.

“This is really about emerging artists and emerging arts projects that are very grassroots.”

Klasner said the goal is to raise $30,000.

The event will take place on May 14th at Theatre Northwest.
