CHICAGO – Artyom Levshunov scored in overtime Thursday night to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at the United Center.
Levshunov scored on a feed from Connor Bedard in the extra period, NHL.com reported. Chicago goalie Spencer Knight made 31 saves and Winnipeg’s Stuart Skinner stopped 24.
The Jets rallied from a 3-1 deficit. Kyle Connor scored on the power play in the second period to make it 3-2, and Alex Iafallo tied it in the third period when a shot from defenceman Neal Pionk deflected in off him.
Bedard opened the scoring with a power-play goal, his first of the season. He had missed Chicago’s first six games after offseason shoulder surgery. Frank Nazar, back from a two-game suspension for an illegal hit on Bo Horvat on Oct. 8, made it 2-0 in the first period.
Pionk cut the lead to 2-1 late in the first period, but Ryan Donato restored Chicago’s two-goal lead moments later. Pionk finished with a goal and two assists.
Patrick Kane had two assists for the Blackhawks, giving him 895 career points, which NHL.com said is the most among American-born players. He passed Phil Housley.
Chicago improved to 3-5-0. Winnipeg dropped to 4-1-2.
The loss came as the Jets continue to deal with off-ice questions around goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who is still suspended as the team awaits a trade offer. Winnipeg had won its previous outing, a 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild.
