SLY Foods Inc. has recalled its SLY brand freeze-dried potato bourguignon because the product contains pea protein that is not listed on the label, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said.
The recalled product is the 145-gram package with lot number 280726, a best-before date of 2031.07.30 and the UPC 6 28719 84004 7. The CFIA classified the recall as Class 3 and posted it on the Government of Canada recalls and safety alerts site on Oct. 20. The recall date is listed as Oct. 16.
The agency said the product was sold online and in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec and Yukon, and that it was distributed to retail customers.
People with a pea allergy or sensitivity could have a reaction if they eat the meal. The CFIA notice did not mention any reported reactions linked to the product.
The agency told Canadians not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product. Anyone with the package at home should check the lot number and UPC on the label. People with a pea allergy should throw it out or return it to the place of purchase.
Questions can go to the CFIA at 1-613-773-2342 or [email protected]. The full notice, number RA-82765, is on the Government of Canada recalls site. The recall was also noted by eFoodAlert.
It is one of several recalls posted in recent weeks. Canadian regulators also announced a recall of sprouted whole wheat flour over a gluten-free claim and a cannabis product in Ontario.
