MINNEAPOLIS: The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Toronto Raptors 117-94 at Target Center on Sunday night, handing Toronto its first loss of the 2026-27 NBA season.
Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with 26 points, according to ESPN’s box score. Jakobe Walter scored 22 for Toronto, the top total on the Raptors’ side.
TSN described the Timberwolves’ defence as disruptive, and its broadcast analysts Jack Armstrong and Matt Devlin called the two-way performance remarkable. Minnesota had held its first three opponents to fewer than 100 points, and Toronto stayed under that mark again.
The Raptors had opened the season 2-0, beating the Chicago Bulls 135-92 on Oct. 21 and the Washington Wizards 112-102 on Friday. That Chicago game was the one in which Kawhi Leonard scored 23 points, and the Wizards result is covered in our recap of Barnes and Barrett leading Toronto in Washington. The loss in Minnesota leaves Toronto at 2-1.
Search interest in the game spiked in Canada on Sunday night. Raptors-Timberwolves was among the most searched terms on Google Trends Canada, with more than 20,000 searches, alongside Kawhi Leonard and Timberwolves queries.
