The best wireless printer for most Canadian homes is a refillable-tank model such as the HP Smart Tank 5102 or the Brother INKvestment Tank MFC-T780DW, which ship with up to two to three years of ink. For occasional printing, the $49.99 HP DeskJet 2955 is the cheapest way in. A laser model suits heavy text printing.

HP Smart Tank 5102: for people who print a lot

This is the pick for anyone who prints weekly and is tired of buying cartridges. HP’s listing says the printer prints, copies and scans, comes with up to three years of ink in the box, and refills from bottles without squeezing. It measures 43 by 36.1 by 15.7 centimetres and weighs seven kilograms. It was $329.99 on Amazon.ca on Nov. 3, with a 4.1-star average from 143 ratings.
That is a small review base, so treat the rating as an early signal. Skip it if you print a few pages a year: the up-front price is far higher than a basic cartridge model.

Brother INKvestment Tank MFC-T780DW: a tank printer with a document feeder

Brother lists up to 16 pages a minute in black and 15.5 in colour, automatic two-sided printing, a 150-sheet tray and a 20-page automatic document feeder, which most home tank printers lack. The listing says it includes up to three years of ink and connects by Wi-Fi or USB. It was $399.99 with a 4.0-star average from 91 ratings.
It suits people who scan multi-page paperwork. Skip it if you are tight on desk space, as it weighs 7.8 kilograms and is deeper than the HP.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e: a home-office inkjet

The 8034e is a cartridge-based all-in-one aimed at home offices. It was $309.99 on Amazon.ca, with a 4.1-star average from 1,129 ratings, and weighs 8.18 kilograms. Sold and shipped by Amazon.ca.
Read the fine print before buying: the listing says the printer only works with cartridges carrying original HP chips and will block cartridges with non-HP chips, with periodic firmware updates maintaining the block. If you want to buy third-party ink, look elsewhere.

HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3101fdw: for heavy document printing

Laser printers keep toner dry, so they do not clog from sitting unused the way inkjets can. HP markets this one for small teams of up to seven users and lists fast printing, scanning and automatic two-sided printing. It was $299.99, the highest-rated of the five at 4.5 stars from 986 ratings, and is sold and shipped by Amazon.ca. It weighs 10.5 kilograms.
The Amazon listing does not give a page-per-minute figure, so check HP’s spec page before buying. It is the wrong choice if you need photo-quality colour prints.

HP DeskJet 2955: the cheapest way to print at home

At $49.99, the DeskJet 2955 prints, scans and copies, supports AirPrint and Mopria, and has dual-band Wi-Fi. HP lists speeds of up to 7.5 pages a minute in black and 5.5 in colour. It uses HP 68 cartridges, and the listing says it is eligible for the HP Instant Ink subscription. The average rating is 3.8 stars from 956 ratings, the lowest of the five.
It is for students and light users who print a few pages a month. Cartridge costs add up quickly if you print often, so heavy users should look at a tank model.

How to choose a wireless printer in Canada
Start with how often you print. Under about 100 pages a month, a cheap cartridge model usually costs less overall. Above that, the higher purchase price of a tank printer is typically recovered in cheaper refills, which is why HP and Brother promote the ink included in the box.
Check the ink policy next. Several HP models block non-HP chips, as the 8034e listing states. Then look at Canadian details: ink and toner are sold in English and French packaging, support lines and warranty terms differ by brand, and you should confirm the warranty is valid in Canada before buying from anyone other than Amazon.ca or the brand.
Timing matters too. Black Friday is Nov. 27 this year, and printers often appear in Amazon.ca’s deals, but we have not seen a confirmed discount on any model here, so watch the live price. Our Black Friday guide tracks the broader categories. If you are building a work-from-home desk, see our guides to wireless keyboards, wireless mice and office chairs under $500.

Frequently asked questions
Are tank printers worth it in Canada?
For frequent printing, usually yes. The printers cost more up front, but the listings say they ship with up to two to three years of ink. For a few pages a month, a cheap cartridge printer costs less overall.
Do laser printers need ink?
No. They use toner. Toner cartridges cost more per unit than ink but print more pages, and the toner does not dry out between jobs.
Can I use third-party ink in an HP printer?
Not always. The Amazon.ca listing for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e says it blocks cartridges that do not carry original HP chips. Check the listing for each model before you buy.
Where can I find independent printer tests?
RTINGS publishes printer reviews with its own measurements. We did not test these printers ourselves.
How we chose. We searched Amazon.ca for wireless all-in-one printers on Nov. 3, 2026 and opened each listing, recording price, star rating, rating count and specifications. We kept products sold and shipped by Amazon.ca and skipped listings from third-party sellers or Amazon’s Warehouse Deals, including the Canon PIXMA TS3720, HP LaserJet M209dw and several Epson EcoTank models. We did not test any printer, and we did not read customer review text for this guide, so complaints noted here come from the listing itself. Picks are ordered by fit, not commission.
