Dix and Henry also confirmed two new coronavirus-related deaths, for a total of 290 in B.C. — one for every 100 positive cases. 20,985 British Columbians have now tested positive for the coronavirus.
14,901 people who tested positive have recovered. There are 5,579 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and another 12,016 people isolating at home under active public health monitoring.
Hospitalizations continued to rise Friday. There are now 167 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, including 50 in intensive care — the most in B.C. since the pandemic began.
Three new healthcare facilities are contending with outbreaks: Capilano Care Centre and Fraserview Intermediate Care Lodge, both in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, and Kelowna’s Sun Pointe Village.
Active healthcare outbreaks fell overall to 41, however, as four outbreaks were declared over Friday, at Queens Park Hospital, Lakeview Care Centre, Yaletown House and St. Michael’s Centre.
No new community outbreaks were reported; outbreaks at Coast Spas and Pace Processing were declared over.
