
Region of Waterloo Public Health has reported a fifth confirmed case of COVID-19 in Waterloo Region.
The patient is listed as a man in his 40s who recently returned from a Celebrity Silhouette cruise.
He was tested at St. Mary’s Hospital and is now self-isolating at home.
No other details regarding the patient are immediately available.
Earlier in the day, health officials announced another confirmed case – a woman in her 50s who had travelled to France and the UK. She is now in self-isolation.
The third confirmed case – a man in his 40s who visited Las Vegas – was recently hospitalized after going into self-isolation. Officials said his symptoms had become more severe, but he is now in stable condition.
The first two confirmed cases are also in isolation. Other than the fifth patient, all of the cases were tested at Grand River Hospital.
