Peters replaces Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz, who will miss the contest with a thumb sprain.
The Winkler, Man., native is enjoying a breakout rookie campaign with the White Sox. He’s slashing .303/.357/.484 with an .841 OPS through 89 games this season, and he has six homers with 35 RBIs.
The good news comes for Peters a day after becoming the first Canadian to hit for the cycle since 2011 in Friday’s win over the Athletics.
Peters joins Otto Lopez and Cade Smith as Canadians in this year’s all-star game.
