J. G. Fruits & Légumes Inc. has recalled four grated carrot products distributed in Quebec because they may contain pieces of metal, according to a notice posted Oct. 29 on the Government of Canada’s recalls and safety alerts site.
The recall is a class 2 recall under the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s system. The agency said the products went to retail and to hotels, restaurants and institutions. The notice does not name the stores or restaurants, and it does not mention any injuries or illnesses.
None of the products carries a brand name. All four have a best-before date of Oct. 28, 2026. The notice lists no lot numbers.
The affected products are product code 7068, a one-kilogram bag of grated carrots with UPC 00650746298553; product code 65163, a case of five 1.82-kilogram bags with UPC 8926930012574; product code 65167, a case of five 1.82-kilogram bags with UPC 10620868203022; and product code 65165, grated carrots 1/16, a case of 100 packages of 2.27 kilograms, for which no UPC is listed.
The agency’s advice is not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected products. Consumers who bought grated carrots in Quebec with the best-before date of Oct. 28 and are unsure of the product code can throw them out. Restaurants and institutional kitchens should check delivery records and storage for the codes above.
The recall is listed under identification number RA-82881. The CFIA said it is verifying that the recalled products are removed from the marketplace.
