The Elise and Exige are dead, long live the Elise — and Exige. The British marque famous for lightweight sports cars is killing one of its best products to make way for the electric revolution.
To send off the sports car, Lotus announced early February it will release Final Edition models for both the Elise and its track-bred bedmate, the Exige. Both get more power, a thin-film transistor (TFT) instrument cluster, a new steering wheel, new upholstery and stitching patterns, and a special plaque denoting it’s a Final Edition model.
The Elise is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 240 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque in Sport 240 trim; and 250 horsepower in Cup 250 trim.
The Exige, as a hardcore track-focused version of the Elise, gets a lot more toys useful for cutting down those lap times. Mounted in the middle is a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 that produces 397 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque in Sport 390 trim; 430 horsepower in Sport 420 trim, and — well you can guess roughly how much power the Sport 430 makes.
