A new study reveals a large majority of Canadians are excited for the NHL to return for modified playoffs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The study by the Angus Reid Institute finds that seven-in-ten Canadians are looking forward to the strange Stanley Cup playoffs that have 24 teams getting ready to get on the ice this summer.
Another thing hockey fans can look forward to is the expanded playoff field where six of the seven Canadian teams will be facing off.
Boosted participation of Canadian teams and those eager to see the season finally finish may be the reasons for 72 per cent of Canadians ready to embrace hockey in August.
Some other interesting findings reveal 27 per cent of usual NHL followers say they are very excited for hockey to resume while 45 per cent of these fans are still excited but just slightly less. On the other end, 28 per cent of playoff fans say they have little interest in this strange season.
