Rudy Gobert, the first NBA player to test positive for COVID-19, provided an update on his condition Sunday.
The Utah Jazz centre said he is feeling better with each passing day, and thanked fans for their messages of support.
The 27-year-old was criticized prior to his diagnosis for “careless” behaviour in the Jazz locker room and with media. Fellow all-star and teammate Donovan Mitchell, as well as Detroit Pistons forward Christian Wood, have also contracted the virus.
Gobert pledged to donate over $500,000 to COVID-19 relief on Saturday and has also apologized to anyone he may have endangered through his actions.
The NBA is on hold for a minimum of 30 days, meaning the earliest basketball can resume is April 10. It is unclear how the league will proceed with this season if/when it is ready to return to action.
