A steal of three points in the third end led Canada’s Kadriana and Colton Lott to a 7-4 win over Germany on Wednesday at the world mixed doubles curling championship.
Germany’s Kim Sutor and Sixten Totzek opened with the hammer and scored two in the first end.
After the Lotts managed just one point in the second, the husband-and-wife duo from Gimli, Man., broke the game open in the third when they drew for three behind cover, and the Germans missed on their final shot.
Canada enters the final day of round-robin play tied for first in Pool B with Italy at 6-1 and with the head-to-head tiebreaker against the defending champions. Germany fell to 4-3.
The Canadians face Czechia (3-4) and host Switzerland (4-3) on Thursday.
A sweep of their final round-robin games would guarantee the Lotts first place in their pool and a bye directly into Friday’s semifinals.
