The Toronto Tempo expect Brittney Sykes to return to the court this season.
The team released a statement regarding the status of the 32-year-old guard who has been out since June 16 with a left plantar fascia injury.
“A Minnesota broadcast last night incorrectly stated that Brittney Sykes was out for the remainder of the season following a plantar fascia injury suffered on June 16,” the statement read. “She continues to make progress in her rehabilitation, is in the process of making a full recovery, and is expected to return this season.”
Prior to the injury, Sykes was the WNBA’s third-leading scorer, averaging 20.7 points per game.
The Tempo sit fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 10-17 record following their loss to the Minnesota Lynx. The team is on a four-game losing streak.
Kiki Rice made her return from an ankle sprain against Minnesota but was on a minute restriction.
