Noting the widespread repercussions from just one wedding, Casey said, “This is a reminder we are not out of the woods yet.
“We all need to do our part and adhere to public health measures when out in the community, at work, at school or using public transit or facilities.”
He reiterated the need for physical distancing of two metres, masking and frequent hand washing.
“Everyone needs to work together to help keep our numbers in check by refraining from non-essential travel, sticking to one social bubble and limiting our social gatherings.”
York Region Public Health issued notices this past weekend alerting those who attended any of these gatherings to monitor themselves for symptoms for several more days (through Sept. 12), and to self-isolate and report if they experience symptoms.

Dr. Eileen de Villa, Toronto’s medical officer of health, has warned repeatedly about COVID-19 complacency and has emphasized the importance of sticking to the safety protocols.
As she said at her most recent weekly briefing, “The vast majority of people in our city are still susceptible to COVID-19 infection.”
