On Sunday, Ontario reported 11,383 COVID-19 tests completed the previous day.
Ottawa Public Health reported nine new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, plus five additional deaths that brought the overall toll in the city to 233.
There were 38 Ottawa residents with COVID-19 still in hospital, while 78 per cent of all cases confirmed in Ottawa were considered resolved.
A new outbreak of the virus was declared in the “6 NWE” area of The Ottawa Hospital’s General Campus.
Meanwhile, 10 local long-term care homes continued to battle their own deadly outbreaks of the virus, along with five retirement homes, three hospitals and two group home or assisted living facilities.
At Carlingview Manor, a 303-bed LTC home on Carling Avenue, 52 residents have died from COVID-19. At the 160-bed Madonna Care Community in Orléans, 42 residents and one staff member have lost their lives to the disease.
