The province has launched a website to help businesses, services and organizations get ready for the reopening of Nova Scotia’s economy.
Stephen McNeil said the “Prepare to reopen Nova Scotia” website will answer questions and essentially be a how-to guide for the next stage of loosened restrictions.
“For those that were forced to close, our goal for your reopening is still early June,” said the premier at a Tuesday news conference. “We will have more to say on that this week, and of course it all depends on our cases staying low.”
He said Dr. Robert Strang has been consulting with several groups so they can work out how to operate while following restrictions designed to limit the spread of COVID-19.
“Those of you who have been asked to submit a plan to public health and haven’t yet, get on it,” McNeil said. “Our follow-ups will continue with you, but we require a plan.”
McNeil knows our province is behind others when it comes to announcing the resumption of operations, but he said the ultimate goal is to prevent another shutdown, or announce dates that have to be delayed.
“Remember when we said ‘Stay the blazes home?’ We’ve come a long way since then, let’s do our best not to go back,” McNeil stated.
On Tuesday, the province said Nova Scotia has had a total of 1,052 COVID-19 cases while announcing one new death and two new positive tests.
That total number on Monday was 1,051. Dr. Robert Strang explained the discrepancy is due to a false positive test at Northwood.
“The testing that’s done by the lab is very accurate, but no test is perfect,” Strang explained. “That means there’s always a small chance for a test to have an inaccurate or indeterminate result.”
