
PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. — A male youth has been arrested by RCMP in relation to threats made on Instagram.
An RCMP spokesperson said they received a call about the threats toward Tamarac Education Centre in Port Hawkesbury around 1:30 p.m. on Monday. The school was closed because it was the Easter Monday holiday.
Details about the nature of the threat weren’t provided by police. The threat was made to the school and not directed to any student, staff or faculty at the school.
The youth was arrested late afternoon and has been released on conditions. The charges are expected to be related to making threats.
No other details are being provided about the youth to protect his identity as required by the Canadian Young Offenders Act.
