The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo from the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, suggesting starter Frederik Andersen could miss time with an upper-body injury.
The Marlies also recalled goaltender Parker Gahagen from the ECHL’s Newfoundland Growlers.
Andersen went down in the first period of Monday’s loss to the Florida Panthers after a collision with the Panthers’ Frank Vatrano. Michael Hutchinson replaced Andersen in the game and was credited with the loss after the Panthers scored four goals in the third period.
After the game Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said Andersen was being tested for a concussion but the coach appeared optimistic.
“I guess he’s feeling better. That’s what I’m told. They’re just going to have to give him the night and see how he is in the morning,” Keefe said.
The Maple Leafs next play Wednesday on the road against the New York Rangers, a team potentially looking to trade away a goalie.
