NHL cleared new Leafs GM John Chakya of tampering charge

The NHL investigated a charge of tampering by new Toronto Maple Leafs GM John Chayka but found no evidence of wrongdoing, Sportsnet confirmed on Monday.

Frank Seravalli first reported the news that the NHL looked into whether Chayka had contacted an employee of another team without the franchise’s approval. The Leafs cooperated and the league determined the accusations were unsubstantiated.

Chayka is set to be introduced Monday afternoon alongside Mats Sundin as the new members of the Maple Leafs front office.
