Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a wind warning for Edmonton and much of central Alberta, with northwesterly gusts up to 90 km/h expected Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 14.

The Weather Network’s forecast centre said the winds develop in the afternoon and ease later in the evening. It said the gusts could cause power outages and make travel difficult for high-sided vehicles.
Environment Canada said high-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind. The agency advises people to secure loose objects around homes and yards.
CTV News Edmonton also reported the warning covers the Edmonton area and much of central Alberta. Northern Alberta is expected to see showers, with some snow over higher terrain, The Weather Network said.
Warnings are issued when severe weather is occurring or expected. Current alerts for any Alberta community are posted on the Environment Canada website.
